Announcement - Beta Version Ready for Download!

Hi guys, it's me Unikorn.

I apologize for not responding in time to everyone. The whole team had to dedicate all our time to the release. The beta version is ready for download. Although the game is complete, it's a significant project for us (given our team's size), so the bug-fixing process took quite a while.

Until now, I haven't allowed the game to move past the beta stage. However, due to numerous requests (even in my whole life, I've never been insulted as much as in the past two weeks T.T being an indie dev is so stressful I miss my arty time), the beta version is being released for those who want to experience the game earlier.

There may still be some unwanted bugs; you can help us by reporting them via email or Discord so we can continue improving the game. The download link is here, and keys will be sent to the emails (please also check your junk/spam/bulk mails) of those who have pre-ordered. Once again, I apologize for the delays due to manpower shortages and miscalculations in all release date estimates.

Thank you very much for everyone's support, and Lancelot wouldn't have had this fantastic adventure without the collaborative help from everyone.

This is more of a learning experience rather than taking every comment personally. The pressure is high, we understand, at least I understand if not all us. The problem is, you should give yourself plenty of time even if it means to finish the project ahead of time of the deadlines. I can't say what kind of insults you got, perhaps there are hidden comments that we couldn't see. As a person who used to work as a sales representative, you will always get unsatisfied customers, it's the real world sadly but factual. I'd say you should never take it personal and rather move forward, as much as you've been getting those "insults", you still got people who have faith in you, including me. Because perhaps I am one of the first customers, and I know you aren't some sort of a scammer. Years back, I bought Journey to Kelebra when it wasn't for free. My faith in you is still there. And, you most defiantly need to understand how the market place works, if those people get false promises, they'd see you as scammer than anything else, even if you were to be honest with your words. My best advice for now, is that you take your time with the game and when it's ready, you announce that. Sure, go ahead and release those test versions and such but never tell them a date and expect them not to be happy when a promise is not fulfilled. Also, once more, communication is your best weapon. You've got to let them know before you release dates that you got issues, not afterwards. Some people do set a time to play the game even tho they have so much going on in their plate, me for example I'm a student who barely has time for fun really (So, dates are a huge deal to me to and letting me know ahead of time, gives me a chance to be flexible with my plans) I really hope this helps and I wish you the best of luck.

Hi guys, it's me, Sam, the market guy. I'm currently waiting for our dev-art team, as it appears the asset key we generated cannot be used at the moment. Consequently, we are in the process of experimenting with alternative keys.

Regarding the message about feeling "insulted," I believe he may have used the wrong words. I can analyze that he means he has been under a lot of stress in the past two weeks. He isn't very adept at expressing his emotions, and we hope it hasn't caused any harm. If it has, we sincerely apologize.

We understand that this is a result of our time management and unforeseen issues, and we appreciate you bringing it to our attention.

Our dev team is currently working on creating new keys. Feel free to download the game, and once the keys are completed, we will send them out to you.

Thank you for sticking with us.

Thank you, Sam, for this message and for clarifying the ‘insults’ misunderstanding. I can empathise with the stress you and the team has been under and I also agree with the post above suggesting that for future projects, you either don’t announce hard deadlines or announce realistic ones and give yourself plenty of time, including time for unforeseen troubleshooting. I am a huge fan of your work and it’s precisely because we all love your work that we get upset when deadlines are pushed back- we are eager to see your work! Having said that, I would also like to apologise if my previous messages have come off as rude or annoyingly persistent. You make great games so obviously people get a little mad when they have to wait longer for it! If anything, the many many posts and messages here are proof of just how popular your games are! :D

I've messaged the devs on discord and they say the keys they made won't work so they are looking for alternates.

Got the download but no email with the key, not even in spam

(+3)

Most of them were critical comments, not insults lol. Also, I don't have an email with the key.

I checked my email, but couldn't find the key

I don’t think the comments and posts here should be considered ‘insults’ because all everyone (including me) was saying (and continue to say) is that this game’s development and release were frustratingly disappointing. The delays were inexcusable and some of the previous updates were evidently dishonest (please remember that this game has been delayed over 10 times in the last 2.5 months since the original release date). I think it’s unacceptable and misleading for the devs to now turn this on their customers and say that everyone was “insulting” when they were legitimately demanding honesty and transparency. We didn’t insult you- you insulted yourselves by announcing unrealistic deadlines and release dates and repeatedly failing to meet expectations that you generated in the first place! I think you should accept your mistakes with humility and understand what you have put your customers and loyal fans through rather than make yourselves out to be the victims here! Also, I have not received my key (I pre ordered on itch) yet. And what’s the news on the low specs version of the game- how long will it take for that to be released?

I hope that what I said wasn't taken as an insult.  I tried to keep a sense of humor and just questioned the resetting clock.  I pre-ordered the Gold edition of the game back on October 20th for the Halloween release date.  And still waiting.  Y'all are artists from what I see in/from the demo.  Thank you.  Still awaiting the rest of y'alls art.

Hi. I pre-orderded on Gumroad. Where can I find the download link?

I will say that the insults were 100 percent unwarranted and unnecessary, but any criticism over the handling of time management and responsiveness to the those who pre-ordered the game is completely understandable. I can't say I was upset about how this project was being handled because I knew that given the time, the team would be able to produce a finish product. But I'm sure that most people, myself included, would have liked to have been given some sort of heads up as to what was truly going on behind the scenes. I think that if you had just release the game in a unfinished state and continued to release the story content and bug fixes as they were reported (sort of like Robin Morningwood), people wouldn't have reacted in such a harsh and aggressive manner. Another thing that might have hurt ya'll more then helped was having a set release date. If you had just stated that the game may be released later 2023, or early 2024, then it would have: a) given the team plenty of time to work on the project without having the overbearing worry of meeting a set release date, and b) would allowed for more leniency from the fans since there wasn't, again, a set in stone release date. I understand that for small independent group it is harder to make a name for yourself, especially when the market it over saturated, but holding yourselves to an incredibly high standard at the start is only going to hold you back.

The insult is very sad, and so is the fact that your work is so stressful, but the communication could have been a little better. Regardless, I thank you for your work and as soon as the full version is ready, I hope you go on a long relaxing holiday and can rest from the madness of the past days and weeks. More perseverance and success to you.

Ignore the insults.  Your community appreciates your work.

I already have the key but cannot find a working download link.

(+2)(-1)

I'm sorry to hear that, insults are not okay.
Everyone makes mistakes, next time take more time for your release deadlines. :P  ;)

When will we get the keys sent to us?
